Safety In Obedience

Updated: Jun 7

I'm sure we've all heard the Bible story of Daniel in the lions' den. Daniel was obedient to God, and he found favor with the King. The twist in that story is seeing favor as a double-sided coin. The same favor made him a target for his haters. People began to try to find fault in him (Daniel 6:4). Have you noticed that favor can put you in unfavorable and uncomfortable positions? People get jealous, they spread rumors, they treat you unfairly... In your own life, you can pin-point areas where your obedience to God has seemed to cost you—cost you relationships, things, etc. But consider the privilege of knowing that you are walking in His will. Being a "good and faithful servant." Imagine being Daniel! Being obedient, doing everything right... about to be fed to lions!!! We'd be screaming, "WHY LORD?!!"

Daniel stayed so focused on God, he didn't give any of his energy to his enemies. He trusted in God to protect him (Daniel 6:10-11).

When your life is pleasing to God you can have confidence that He will fight for you and come to your rescue.

The King said, "May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you" (Daniel 6:16). We should not fear man! Those of us who have been called to speak on the Lord's behalf, can be tempted to want to please people. We must remember who we serve FIRST!

The King fasted and the next day, he ran to the den to find Daniel. Daniel was innocent in the sight of God, so He had his back. Think back to a time that God sent in reinforcements for you! He sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths (Daniel 6:18-22).

The people who tried to persecute Daniel were thrown into the den with their families (Daniel 6:24). Revenge is for the Lord, amen?! (Deuteronomy 32:35) -(Romans 12:19) The truth is, sometimes God will intervene and most times it's in the ways we least expect. We have to trust that His will is being played out for His glory, which also benefits us (Romans 8:28).

No matter what the favor on your life brings, like Daniel, be obedient to God. Continue to do what's right, and leave the results to Him. Do you want to do a Bible Study on Daniel? Download our SOAP guide here:
