Passing On Faith

Updated: Jun 7

As I sit down to reflect on our family's journey of faith, I am reminded of the importance of intentional actions. In a world filled with distractions and busyness, prioritizing quality time together has become our anchor, grounding us in love, laughter, and shared experiences. When we moved from our home state to FL in 2017, we left everything and everyone behind. I was pregnant with our second daughter and we struggled for a bit to get our new lives started. A few days after giving birth via C-section, I started having chest pain, back pain, and shortness of breath. I'd never experienced anything like it. I also had never had any major surgeries, so I thought these symptoms would subside in time. Days went on and no one would listen to my concerns. On the day of my one-week check-up, I stormed into an ER and demanded every test there was to figure out what was wrong with me. MANY uncomfortable tests later, I was diagnosed with PE. A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung. I was admitted, and couldn't keep my newborn with me..... TO BE CONTINUED. Our journey of faith and family has never been without challenges and setbacks. I now realize that it is through these experiences that we've grown stronger together. Our family means a lot to us, our marriage and our children mean a lot to us. Both a privilege and a blessing from God we do not take for granted anymore. As parents, we recognize the weight of our responsibility as primary role models for our children. After all, ministry starts at home. We understand that our actions often speak louder than words, so we are learning to be intentional. We are teaching our children how to love unconditionally, extend forgiveness in moments of conflict and authentically operate in the fruit of the Spirit. Prayer has become the cornerstone of our family life. We don't just reserve it for mealtimes or bedtime; we pray together as a family regularly. Through teachable moments—both positive and negative, we turn to Scripture for guidance and direction. Lastly, family time is VERY important to us. Whether we're gathered around the dinner table, curled up on the couch watching movies, or having an outdoor adventure exploring God's creation, every moment becomes an opportunity to deepen our connection. and grow in our faith.

In the end, it's not about having all the answers or being perfect; it's about showing up, being present, and walking this journey of faith together as a family. We hope that our children will see the genuine expression of our faith and be inspired to follow in our footsteps.

"Train up a child in the way he should go,

And when he is old he will not depart from it." Prov. 22:6
